Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC) was created for the purpose of encouraging a proactive business environment, resulting in diversified and balanced growth in the county’s economic base. It is intended that these activities will build a community and quality of life that is uniquely Greene County.
GCDC is primarily focused on providing assistance to all communities in Greene County to address development needs and opportunities. The organization works closely with city and local governments, as well as Jefferson Matters, to support downtown revitalization, community engagement, and initiatives that strengthen local economies. Additionally, GCDC supports initiatives of countywide significance, including workforce development, community development, and housing.
Our balanced approach to development has resulted in one of the more diversified rural Iowa economies found in the state. Our proximity to Iowa State University, our location in the heart of the premiere agricultural production region of the world, and our willingness to actively support emerging and existing area business and industry positions Greene County as friendly and ready for continued growth.
“To cooperate in the active development and implementation of programs and activities to expand and diversity the economy of Greene County, through the attraction, retention, and expansion of businesses.”
